Introduction

IceWarp WebMail has been developed as independent product – Web based mail access to the ANY mail server. Our estimation is, that about 50% of IceWarp Web Mail users are using this software with other Mail server than Merak.

It is possible, because of using POP3 for connection between Web Mail and Mail Server. The mails from Mail Server were actually „downloaded“ from Mail Server folders to the Web Mail folders. If the IceWarp Web Mail and Mail server were on the same computer (most of installation), mails were in the same server twice! There were several options how to integrate and „synchronize“ these folders together. See the next screen and see the options:

New default Web Mail synchronization

It is very flexible, but most of users just wanted simple pre-set synchronization:

- When messages are downloaded from Mail Server by regular mail client (e.g. Outlook Express) – remove them also from Web Mail client „view“ too
- When delete using Web Mail client – delete them from Mail Server too – they can not be downloaded using „regular“ mail client (Outlook)

The User interface has been „simplified by default“ and option „leave messages on Server, etc. Disappeared. The new setup screen look like:

How to solve situation, when you want to leave some mail messages always „visible“ through Web Mail? We added a new function called COPY message. What to do:

Create a new Folder (e.g. ToDo)
- Select Messages you want to „leave always on server“ and copy them into this folder.

How to set „Old style“ synchronization

However there are some users that prefer the „OLD STYLE“ with the „leave messages on server“ option.

This feature can be enabled back by:

Find file include.html ( e.g. C:\Program Files\Merak\html\mail )

- Find line: define("directmerak", true);
Change this line to: define("directmerak", false);
